D.O.A. -Death Of AARP HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!
Hey booskies!! Can I just tell you how crazy the last couple of weeks have been for me? I wrote D.O.A., recorded it, and shot a music video for it all in 2 weeks. Everything is happening super fast, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s only the beginning! I’m so excited about making music, and I don’t know that I’ve ever been happier.
So I’m sure most of you are wondering “Why Jay-Z?” Firstly, let me just say that I looooove Hov. He is my favorite rapper next to Biggie, and true say I would probably never be rapping if it weren’t for them. I have worked with HOV personally, when I handmade several custom garments for him (http://www.myspace.com/saveyourvanity). So, no, I don’t have beef with Hov.
The reason I made my song DOA is because I’m sick and tired of people hopping on bandwagons. No one had a problem with listening to Autotune before. We were all singing “Pop Champagne” and “Blame It,” and now all of a sudden it’s death to autotune??? Fans should be more loyal. Everyone was rocking out hard to autotune for the last 2 years especially, and as soon as Father Hov says it’s not cool, then all of the artists we loved all of a sudden became less credible. That’s absurd!!
No one tells me what to do, no one tells me what I should like, no one tells me what to say, and that’s the way I like it. If I have a problem with something that someone says, I’m going to speak out against it. POINT BLANK. PERIOD. I don’t give a flying fig leaf who they are! You could be Jesus Christ himself. I would say to Jesus, “Look, dude…I don’t know how I feel about this whole ‘not-sinning’ thing, so I’m gonna pass on that one.” Seriously! I’m not insane, it’s not a gimmick, it’s just Overfab being Overfab. And loving every rass minute of it!!!

see your point about one person dictating what we should listen to. you put in a lot of work on the video and the campaign. great job! but I would like to say that autotune is the least of the problems in black music these days. Jay’s song was harmless in that sense. maybe a handful of artist might be affected by DOA, but loosing Autotune in black music is not the end. and as a Black woman, there are more heavy issues in hip hop that concerns how you are portrayed and I would like to see you attack those issues with the same level of commitment.

i generally dont involve myself in the nonsense i see on the web. jayz could have spoken on alot of different topics to be dead but he chose autotunes i believe just for the controversy like you just added another notch to the devils kingdom. now you spark someone else to their public uneeded opinion and it just drags along as if we cant be using our moment, our time in the spotlight to be doing gods work. the end being so near we cant use our talent for play, laughs or nonsense. let the fools be foolish, you teach not make fun. you have amazing ability and me personally would like to see one, just one come along and give lessons creatively. god gives and he does take away when we dont use our gifts for his purpose, not ours….profettt
